Fruit Cocktail Sheet Cake






Yield: 1 cakeFruit Cocktail Sheet Cake
1 1/2c plain flourMix dry ingredients.  Add oleo and fruit cocktail.  Mix by
1c sugarhand and pour into a greased 9 x 12 inch cake pan. Mix  1c
1t cinnamonchopped pecans and 1c packed light brown sugar.  Spread
1t baking sodaover the top of batter and press in.  Bake at 325 degrees for
1c packed light brown sugar40 minutes or until done.  Top with whipped cream or ice
1t saltcream.
1 med can fruit cocktail
1 stick oleo, melted
1c chopped pecans

Pound Cake






Yield: 1 cakePound Cake
1/2c Crisco shorteningCream Crisco, butter and sugar together until creamy. Mix
1/2c buttereggs in one at a time, beating one minute after each.  Blend
2c sugarin flour and mix well.  Add vanilla.  Bake in greased and
6 eggsfloured tube pan at 300 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes or
2c flouruntil done.
1t vanilla

Old Fashioned Fig Cake






Yield: 1 cakeOld Fashioned Fig Cake
2c flourSift together first 6 ingredients and set aside.  Mix sugar,
1t saltoil, eggs and buttermilk.  Add dry ingredients and then add
1t baking sodapecans, fig preserves and vanilla.  Grease and flour bunt
1t clovespan, pour mixture into pan and bake at 350 degrees for
1t nutmeg45 to 60 minutes until done.
1t cinnamon
1 1/2 c sugar
1c Crisco oil
3 eggs
1c buttermilk
1c fig preserves
1c chopped pecans
1t vanilla

Mississippi Mud Cake






Yield: 1 cakeMississippi Mud Cake
2 sticks margarineMelt margarine, add cocoa, eggs, flour, salt and sugar.
1/2c cocoaBeat well, add nuts and stir.  Pour in greased and floured
4 eggs well beatensquare pan and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
1 1/2c plain flourPour package of marshmallows over cake while still hot.
2c sugar
1 1/2c chopped pecans
dash of salt
1 sm pkg mini marshmallows

Buttermilk Cake








Yield: 1 cakeButtermilk Cake
1c CriscoCream Crisco, sugar, and butternut flavoring.  Add eggs,
3c sugarone at a time, mixing well between each egg.  Dissolve
2t vanillasoda in the buttermilk.  Add the flour and buttermilk in
5 eggsalternating amounts to the egg mixture, mixing well as the
1/3t baking sodaingredients are added.  Bake in a greased and floured tube
1c buttermilkpan at 325 degrees for about 70 minutes or until done. 
2t butternut flavoringDump out onto a cake plate and glaze while it is still hot.
3c cake flour sifted 4 times
Buttermilk Cake Glaze
1c powdered sugar                      1T water
2T orange juice concentrate
Mix the glaze ingredients thoroughly and pour over cake
while it is still hot.

Old Fashioned Red Velvet Cake







Yeild: 1 cakeRed Velvet Cake
2 1/2c plain flour
1c buttermilkCream sugar and Wesson oil.  Add eggs, beat well.  Sift
1 1/2c sugartogether flour, salt, and soda.  Put cocoa, vinegar, and red
2c Wesson oilfood coloring in a cup.  Mix well and add to sugar mixture.
1t vinegarBeat well.  Add milk, flour and vanilla.  Mix thoroughly.
1t baking sodaPour into two greased and floured cake pans.  Bake at
1t salt350 degrees for 30-45 min (or until done).  Baking time
1t vanilla extractcan vary depending on humidity and altitude.  Cool cakes
1T cocoacompletely before frosting.
2T red food coloring
2 eggsFrosting
1 stick oleo                               1T vanilla extract
1 box conf. Sugar                     1c nuts
1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese, at room temp
Blend together oleo, sugar, and cream cheese.  Add vanilla
and nuts.  Beat until spreadable consistency.

Old Fashioned Tea Cakes






Yield: depends on size ofOld Fashioned Tea Cakes
         cookies
1/2 c butterCream butter and sugar.  Add egg and beat well.  Add soda
1c sugarto buttermilk and dissolve.  Add all ingredients to flour and
1 eggmix.  Roll into cookie shapes and bake at 400 degrees until
1/4c buttermilkbrown or desired doneness (I don't like them quite as brown)
1t baking soda
1t vanilla extract
3 1/2 -4c flour

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Mix







Yield: 1 batch

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Mix
1c all-purpose flourIngredients can be layered in a jar for a gift with a tag
1t baking sodaattatched that lists the additional ingredients that are
1t ground cinnamonneeded when ready to prepare the cookies.
1/2t ground nutmeg
1/2t saltwhen ready to prepare, heat oven to 350, mix in additional
3/4c brown sugar, packedingredients and drop cookies onto a cookie sheet cooking
1/2c sugaruntil done
3/4c raisins
2c oats
Additional Ingredients:
3/4c butter
1 egg
1t vanilla
